Bushcraft knife carbon steel

An awesome little bushcraft knife where functionality determined design and material.

This knife has a full tang blade of high carbon steel (80CrV2), a handle of micarta and a sheath of kydex. Micarta is a material in which fabric is pressed together and soaked in resin. Kydex is a type of plastic that is heated and shaped around the knife to create a sheath. The material is very strong and basically maintenance free. The sheath comes with a belt loop and it is possible to attach a lanyard to the knife if desired.

The entire knife is 220 mm, and the edge is 93 mm long. Since the knife is made of carbon steel, there is a risk that surface rust will form if the blade is not kept dry. This can easily be avoided by just wiping the blade after use. It may also be beneficial to apply a layer of oil or wax to the blade from time to time. Carbon steel is a living material, so most likely will a light patina form on the blade if it comes in contact with acidic products.
